This is a picture of our home in the Adirondacks. We named the property Birch Knoll because of the large number of Birch trees on the grounds. Also, in a book of fiction titled "Adirondack Mountain Mystery" by Margaret Goff Clark, published by Funk & Wagnall's, copyright 1966, our property is described before our house was built. A shack that used to be located in the back of the house was used as the location of a robbers' hideout. The shack was called "Birch Knoll Manor" by the robbers. We dropped "Manor" because Tony felt it sounded rather pretentious. The author was a good friend of a nearby property owner and had often visited the property.

We created a wildlife habitat in our backyard woodland, hoping that by doing so we would attract a wide variety of birds. While we accomplished that, we have also attracted some other visitors. Here is a picture of a couple of our "regulars". Click on image for larger view.

Ellena has become an avid gardener and maintains several large gardens on our property. Shown below is one of her Butterfly Gardens with plantings selected to attract butterflies. Click on image for larger view.
